Sitka Conservation Society

Here’s how you can support the work of the Sitka Conservation Society

Become a Member

Join or renew your membership today to receive a free copy of the 2014 calendar!

A strong and active membership is critical for the Sitka Conservation Society to succeed in its efforts to protect the natural environment of the Tongass National Forest.  As a member, you’ll receive a copy of our annual report calendar in the mail.  We’ll also mail you our newsletter and you’ll get a discount on SCS shirts and merchandise.

While membership contributions do finance important SCS programing, simply having a large and engaged membership alone goes a long way to advance our mission.  When we testify or write letters on behalf of our members, our statements have more weight if we have membership numbers behind us.  Along similar lines, we keep our members well informed of Tongass issues and community events through emails and newsletters, which often inspire our members to contact decision makers and personally advocate for the Tongass.

Donate

Donations provide substantial support to SCS programming every year.  If you are passionate about keeping the Tongass wild, appreciate the work SCS does, and have the resources to make a larger contribution, we hope you will consider a donation beyond the basic membership level.

Volunteer

For much of its history, the Sitka Conservation Society was entirely a volunteer organization, and volunteers are still essential to the work we do.  SCS relies on volunteers throughout the year for everything from solitude monitoring in the Wilderness to cleaning up after our annual wild foods potluck to writing letters to members of Congress.  We keep our membership informed of volunteer opportunities as they arise, but we encourage you to approach us about volunteering as well.  If you are going to be going out in the Wilderness and would like to gather data, or, if there is any other way you believe you could help with a project, please contact us!

Take Action

You know the saying, “You can’t stand still on a moving train?”  Well, it is certain applicable to conservation in the Tongass.  Everyday new threats arise that could forever change our environment and communities.  In order to fulfill out mission to protect the Tongass and it’s communities, we need folks like you to make your voice heard by contacting keep policy makers.  Go to the Take Action page to see the most recent threats.  It will only take a couple of minutes, but will have a serious impact.

Legacy Giving

The Sitka Conservation Society has been fighting to protect the Tongass for over 40 years and with your support, it will continue to be a voice speaking out on behalf of the forest forever.  Legacy gifts, also know as planned gifts, are a significant way you can contribute to the future of SCS.  There are many options for making legacy gifts so you can decide the best one for you and your family.
